Spanish to English video translator
Translate Spanish video to English subtitles
Choose a video recorded in Spanish. SubtitleGenerator transcribes the Spanish speech into subtitles you can check, then translates the full track to English, ready to review and export.
Subtitle translation requires Pro or Max. Spanish subtitles can be generated on any plan.
Your original video stays on your device. Audio is processed to generate subtitles, and subtitle text is processed for translation.
How to translate a Spanish video to English
- Choose your Spanish video. SubtitleGenerator detects the spoken language and creates Spanish subtitles with word timing.
- Review the Spanish subtitles. Fix names, numbers and any words flagged for checking, because a mistake in the source carries into the translation.
- Translate to English and export. The English track is selected for you. Translate the full track, review the wording, then export your video with English subtitles or download a subtitle file.
Check the Spanish before you translate
Generated subtitles are drafts. Check Spanish names, regional words and numbers in the Spanish track before you translate, because the English translation is made from that text. If you edit the Spanish later, the English track is marked as needing an update, and you decide when to translate again.
Export English subtitles or a captioned video
Export the English track as a video with the subtitles burned in, or download it as a subtitle file with Pro or Max. The Spanish track stays in your project, so you can switch back to it at any time. Translating uses subtitle time; exporting follows your plan's limits.
Subtitles, not dubbing
This workflow translates the subtitle text and keeps the original Spanish audio. It does not create an English voice-over. If your audience needs to hear English, you will need a separate dubbing tool; if they can read along, English subtitles keep the speaker's own voice.
Spanish to English translation questions
Can I translate a Spanish video to English for free?
You can generate Spanish subtitles for free. Translating them to English requires Pro or Max. Buying PAYG time adds usage to your current plan; it does not unlock translation on Free.
Can I paste a YouTube link?
No. This page works with a video file on your device. If you have the rights to use the video, save the file first, then choose it here.
Can I edit the English subtitles?
Yes. Review the translated wording line by line and change anything that needs it before you export.
Does it keep the original timing?
Yes. Each English subtitle keeps the start and end time of the Spanish subtitle it was translated from.
Can I translate a Spanish SRT file instead of a video?
This page starts with a local video. For an existing subtitle file, use TimedSubs' subtitle translator. File-only translation is a separate workflow.
